Tony Warner

Tony Warner is the founder and director of Black History Walks who run guided tours, walks and film nights that highlight influences and contributions by people of African descent to pre colonial London and Europe. His work highlights hidden contributions to some of the most popular institutions and architecture over centuries before Africans were enslaved, and considers this very much part of the capital’s hidden African heritage. As well as a keen historian and community lecturer, Warner has been an activist for educational reforms for many years, believing that including contributions made by Africans to the curriculum improve the fullness history and raise the self and racial esteem of young people. He has designed history courses for schools, the met police and a host of public sector organisations, focusing on narrative, discourse and media analysis to convey a more accurate view of history and enlightening his students.
